  3. IICRC Odour Control Technician

Odour can be a persistent problem on its own or following a variety of property issues including water damage, fire damage and mould growth.

This one-day course will cover everything the technician needs to know in order to deal with malodours caused by water damage, fire and smoke, bodily fluids, pathogens, new furnishings and chemical spills.

At the end of the course students can take the optional IICRC OCT Exam to gain an internationally recognised qualification. The OCT certification demonstrates the students’ knowledge of olfaction and odour, odour sources, detection process, theory of odour control, equipment, chemical options, and applications. Upon achieving the certification, you demonstrate how to address odours caused by biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, mould, combustion sources such as fire and smoke damage, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.

This course is suitable for anyone who is expected to eliminate odour and supplements both the IICRC fire and water damage courses and IICRC carpet and upholstery cleaning courses.
