The National Flood School was invited by British Standards Institute to participate as Technical Author and Project Manager of the (Publicly Available Specification) BSI PAS64:2013 Mitigation and recovery of water damaged buildings – Code of practice.

The PAS 64 project involved the contribution of many of the industry’s major commercial names and took nearly two years to complete. This document, together with the Guide to the PAS 64, is considered the prevailing British methodology for the Water/Flood Damage Restoration Industry.

Where there are no prevailing British Standards, the National Flood School recognises the following standards:

  • The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC)
  • The National Carpet Cleaners Association (NCCA)
  • The Woolsafe Organisation

Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC)

The IICRC Standards serve to develop common, industry-accepted language and terminology that enables us to more universally discuss concepts and procedures regarding cleaning, inspection, and restoration.

You can purchase current and historical Standards, Reference Guides, and Field Guides, as well as Standards Subscriptions through the IICRC Webstore. The IICRC is an accredited Standards Developing Organization (SDO) by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
